The Chiltern Cold Storage Group based in Peterborough is a leading temperature controlled logistics provider for UK and Europe. Maintaining its warehousing facility at the optimum operating temperature within food safety guidelines, means that demands for electricity are high...close to 4.7 million KWh per year. Due to this cost implication, one of Chiltern's key objectives is to try to source the most competitive deal in the market place. Our experience over the past decade has not been good and deals have been brokered by various energy providers which have subsequently been proven to be based on false recommendation. It was just a painful journey which took up a disproportionate amount of management time with unnecessary hassle, diverting attention away from our main business. It was therefore with great heart and relief that we were recommended from an industry contact to try SBS who were purported to be very good at obtaining competitive rates from their current supplier portfolios. From the outset, Booker readily understood our difficult history, and furthermore from early discussions with David Haworth, Director, understood and interpreted the profile of our business platform. From this point onwards, Booker put forward a number of proposed tariffs which were easily understood, transparent, clear and concise and with no hidden extras. Over a few months, and with care and understanding of the movements within the energy place, SBS achieved renewable tariffs, elective from October 2014, which are cheaper than our current tariffs. At Chiltern we have never witnessed a cost reduction in this key utility and this has been a very pleasant surprise!
